There truly is a season for all things.  Educators mark
time by the seasons.  Maybe other professions do this, too,
but I know educators do.  Make it to Friday, to Thanksgiving, to Christmas, to semester break. Start the semester in August/September, end the term in December/January,
end the second term in May/June.  Start again.

There's nothing wrong with this, except that as educators,
we mark our lives about as much by years of experience as
we do by our own birthdays.  Thank goodness most of us
notch these marks as years of service, of sacrifice, and
of giving to the lives of other peoples' children.  What greater calling could anyone have than that of being a  teacher?

Don't despair that you mark your life by educator seasons,
that life might be passing you by.

You have answered life's highest calling----celebrate!

With great sacrifice comes great reward.

Where Has the School Year Gone?
by Don Peek

It's the end of February.  How did that happen?  We're
close to two-thirds of the way through the school year.
That means it's time to find grants for summer school and
for the fall semester.

If you don't start finding grants now, you won't have a
chance to get any money for summer school, and it won't be
long before you'll be rushing to find money for the fall.

More than 110,000 grants are now available to schools each
year.  That's about one for every campus in the U.S.  The
problem is getting information to schools about the grants,
and then someone at the school acting on that information.

What typically happens is that a few thousand schools get multiple grants every year.  Why?  They apply for them.
But many, many schools never even apply for grants.  That
means they'll never get extra, much-needed money that
could help their students and teachers.  No application,
no money; it's that simple.

Why don't schools apply?  Two reasons mainly:  1)they don't know about available grants (only state and federal
grants mail information to schools and then it usually goes
to the central office, and 2)they don't know how to write
a grant.

Products from The School Funding Center can help your
school with both problems.  Don't miss out on money for
your summer school and for the fall semester.  Contact
us today.

The School Funding Center's database at
http://www.schoolfundingcenter.info
will help you match your needs to the grants that are available.  We include live links to email and websites of
granting organizations whenever available.
Usually address, phone, and/or fax is included.

Tips
===========================================================

1. Grant money is given to those who apply.  If you never
apply, you won't get the money you need.
2. Learn to write grants.  Go to class or follow a
well-written manual.  See our choice at:
   http://www.schoolfundingcenter.info/jump.asp
3. Call or go to the website of the grant source. Get as
much information as you possibly can before filling out
   the grant application.

Q & A
===========================================================

Q.  Is there some mystery to applying for a grant?

A.  No, not at all.  If you can read and follow directions,
you can apply for a grant.  The better you follow
directions and write up your needs and your plans, the
better your chances of being awarded grant money.  One
thing is for sure, if you never apply, you'll never get
    any grant money.
