For some reason the start of a new year seems to be the best time to make changes. Tons of people have at least tried to quit smoking, tried to lose a pound or two, tried to be more positive.
Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. But at least the new year seems the most logical time to make those changes. You've been in school since August or September.
What's working? What's not?
Over the holidays, make an honest assessment of your school year so far. Plan those changes that need to be made and make them as soon as you return to school in January.
If there are not funds to make the changes that need to be made, make a commitment to write grants to get the money. No change is easy---especially if additional funds are needed to make those changes.
Use our database, find those funds, make those changes.

The Three Biggest Hurdles To Writing a Winning Grant
I've talked with so many people about writing grants, these three hurdles come to my mind every time I think of folks trying to find grant money for their schools.
1) First on the list of hurdles is understanding the grant process in general. Why do the federal government, state governments, and foundations give grant money to schools.
There are many different reasons, but it is almost always to improve student academic programs, teacher training, or relationships of one type or another. They don't give money for trips to Europe, football stadiums, or band uniforms. Research and study the grant process. Understand why free money is given to schools. If you don't understand the process, your chances of getting grant money are limited.
2) The second hurdle is finding the grants that match your school's needs. Most are on the Internet somewhere. It just takes a lot of time and dedicated effort to find them--- unless, of course, you subscribe to The School Funding Center Grant Database. We have all the grants available to your school. Three clicks, your state, the type of grant you're seeking, and the type of school (public, private, etc.), and our system easily and quickly brings up all available grants. Finding the right grants to match your needs is definitely the second hurdle.
3) The third hurdle is just getting started. There are a hundred reasons and excuses to put off writing a grant. If you can ever just get started, you will get grant money. You might have to apply for two or three or four before you get your first one, but it's a numbers game. And the main number is one. You have to start the first one before you can get to the others.
You want to write a winning grant application? Get the knowledge to understand the process, find the grants that match up with your school's needs, and get started---now!

Tips
===========================================================
1. If you're new at grant writing, talk to a couple of people
who have written grants before you start writing.
2. Don't try to sound fancy. Give your information in a
concise and interesting manner.
3. Support your needs with statistical information including
test scores, graduation rates, reading levels, etc.

Q & A
===========================================================
Q. When do I need a professional grant writer?
A: If you're really good yourself, never. If you have a
large grant that is critical to your school, you might be
better off hiring someone who writes grants for a living.
